Ibe V. Ibe Pet. No. 176/18
DISSOLUTION OF MARRIAGE OVER CONSTANT PHYSICAL, EMOTIONAL
AND PSYCHOLOGICAL ABUSE INFLICTED BY HUSBAND.
Husband and Wife contracted court marriage on November 13, 2014. The
marriage did not produce any child. Three weeks after solemnization of marriage
up till October 2016 when she was forced to eventually leave the matrimonial
home, he would take alcohol to stupor and returned home at odd hours to
descend on her and beat her to a comma. He used to subject her to emotional
and verbal attack. He did not care for her. He was heavily into gambling. He was
also unfaithful to her, as he flirted around with other ladies and commit adultery
with them. When Chioma could no longer tolerate his constant cruelty, physical
and emotional assault, unfaithfulness, lack of care and irresponsible behaviour,
she approached Lawyers Alert. After so much effort to reconcile failed, we
approached the high court for the dissolution of the marriage. Consequently,
Chioma instructed us to petition the court for divorce.
About a year of hearing this case, the petition or divorce was granted.
