The Benue High Court 2 presided by the Hon. Justice Ada Onum today dismissed the suit filed by Rommy Mom Esq seeking details on the expenditure of the flood funds assistance to victims in Benue State totaling over N700m.

The Court in dismissing the suit held that the issue of whether or not the Benue Sate Government or any of its Agencies receipted any fund; whether from the Federal Government, other States Government or Donors was speculative and a rumour.

Justice Ada Onum held the Court cannot make orders based on rumours and speculations.

He therefore dismissed the Suit.

In a related development, a Coalition of NGOs in Benue today filed a Suit before the Makurdi High Court to compel the State Government to release ALL FLOOD VICTIMS FUNDS collected by it directly to the Victims to ameliorate their hardship.

It remains  to be seen how the new suit will navigate this challenge.
