Lawyers Alert was among the participants at the review meeting of the Zero Draft of the National Strategic Plan to Reduce Gender and Human Rights Barriers to HIV and TB Services.
The review meeting, which was organized by the National Agency for the Control of AIDS NACA, was held on the 21st and 22nd of January 2026 in Abuja.
The meeting brought together key stakeholders, including civil society organisations, development partners, and relevant actors in the health and human rights sectors.
Lawyers Alert was represented at the meeting by Ifechi Aleke, who joined other participating organisations to deliberate on strategic and practical measures that can be implemented in Nigeria to address gender and human rights barriers affecting access to HIV and TB services.
The National Strategic Plan, currently being developed by NACA, is aimed at addressing and reducing gender and human rights-related barriers that hinder access to HIV and TB services.
According to NACA, the Plan is designed to create an enabling environment where individual rights are respected and protected, ensuring that all persons can access HIV and TB prevention, treatment, care, and support services without fear of stigma, discrimination, or rights violations.
